For those attempting the qualifiers soon, there are a couple of points to keep in mind:

1. You need three advisory committee members from this department (including your major advisor).
2. You need one external committee member (from some other department on campus).
3. In case you choose to use anyone from industry, they must have a PhD and be appointed (if not already appointed) as a departmental Adjunct Faculty member by the Chair of the Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Department.
4. You need to complete 30 credits of dissertation research (visit the Graduate School Web site for more information on this).
5. For information regarding other university requirements, see the Graduate Bulletin.
6. There is also a departmental requirement that you must submit a manuscript (based on your dissertation research) to a “journal” at least 4 months before your dissertation defense.
