Sponsored internships are an excellent way of building work experience in a targeted field that can be invaluable when searching for a permanent position post-graduation. Typically, students intern at an organization between twenty and forty hours per week, depending on the company need and a student’s class schedule. Internships can be paid or unpaid.
How to find an internship
There are two sources for investigating internships – the department’s homepage (the news section), and the Wayne State Career Services page.
Production Management Leadership Program
In addition to general internship positions, the department also offers a special opportunity for undergraduate students to intern with Big Three and Tier One supplier companies as part of the Production Management Leadership Program (PMLP). Please visit the PMLP page for additional information and requirements.
International students
International students should also refer to the Curricular Practical Training page on the Office of International Scholars and Students Web site for additional information and requirements on obtaining work eligibility in the United States.
