The Global Executive Track - Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering was developed with the understanding that the Working Executive's schedule precludes them from participating in a traditional Ph.D. program. We have developed the following schedule, and incorporated innovative distance learning technology to accomodate the Executive who desires higher education, but not at the cost of quitting their job.
Four Week Cycles:
Week 1: Residency Session
Week 2: No meetings, Online discussions
Week 3: Distance Education Session
Week 4: No meetings, Online discussions
Cadence continues throughout the semester.
Each Residency Session Includes:
Thursday, 5:30pm-9:50pm
Friday, 1:00pm-6:30pm
Saturday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Attendance is required.
Distance Education Session Includes:
Tuesday 5:30pm-9:50pm
For the distance education sessions, a learning partner (student) has the option of in class participation, online participation, or watching the class recording at their convenience.
PROGRAM GRADUATION TIMELINE
This innovative schedule applies to the first 2-3 years of the degree track, when the learning partner is taking the required course work. Once a learning partner completes the course work and begins their dissertation work, there is less need for attending all residency sessions. This allows a working executive to earn a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with minimal impact to their daily schedule. Despite the convenience of the schedule, the degree requirements are no less demanding and will take truly motivated learning partners to complete the degree.
